Background
Increasing awareness of the potential value of robotics applied to welding has made it necessary to design adaptive control systems for welding procedures. In this report, published models are examined in as much detail as possible as a preliminary to The Welding Institute's studies in this area. Consideration of the approaches of other workers permits a plan for systematic research to be developed.
