TWI Industrial Member Report Summary 458/1992
By R Phaal and C S Wiesner
Background
Most structural design codes and fabrication, material and welding consumable specifications include fracture toughness requirements. This review covers national, international and industrial toughness requirements for ferritic materials, including applications such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, offshore structures, shipping, bridges, buildings and pipelines. These toughness requirements have been reviewed in detail in the Appendices. Owing to time and resource constraints, it has not been possible to include all specifications which contain toughness requirements.
