Background
This project was established to investigate repairing and renovating wrought iron structures by welding.
Welding processes as well as welding consumables are discussed in order to determine the most suitable combination for on-site repair and renovation work.
Objectives
- Characterise wrought iron plates by carrying out mechanical and chemical tests on base material.
- Assess the suitability of various consumables for welding of wrought iron.
- Assess the quality and strength of stud welds made on wrought iron plates.
- Assess the mechanical properties of butt-welded component.
