TWI Industrial Member Report Summary 24/1976
By J Doherty
Background
There are few welding problems in which a division can satisfactorily be achieved between technical and economic considerations. This means that any decision requires a large amount of data, not strictly confined to welding, and analysed in several different ways.
This report compares The Welding Institute's progress on this topic with four recently published projects from comparable bodies. All four have been examined to the extent of translating parts of their computer programs to run on the computer used by The Welding Institute and reproducing results. They are now discussed with respect to the assumptions they make and the possible uses to which they can be put.
