TWI Industrial Member Report Summary 567/1996
R M Andrews and A M Lank
A feasibility study was carried out to investigate the problems and advantages of producing a real time defect assessment (RTDA) system.
Background
Currently, non-destructive testing (NDT) and engineering critical assessment (ECA) operations are carried out as separate activities. Significant delays can occur as reports are transferred between specialists. There may be advantages in integrating ECA software into computerised automated inspection systems, to produce an RTDA system.
Objective
To assess the advantages of combining NDT and ECA into a more integrated operation.
