TWI Industrial Member Report Summary 125/1980
By R L Jones
Background
This review attempts to establish the present position of flux-cored arc welding for the joining of C-Mn steels and to indicate the diversity and number of flux-cored arc welding consumables commercially available. It is claimed that the process offers certain advantages over its competitive processes, namely the manual metal arc process and the solid wire C02 process. The foremost of these is the possible reduction in overall welding costs while at least maintaining the weld metal quality and mechanical properties achievable with its competitive processes.
