Wed, 12 June, 2024

Findings from the GeoSmart project were shared at the 20th International Conference on European Energy Market (EEM24), which took place in Istanbul, Turkey from 10-12 June, 2024.

The event was hosted by the Center for Energy and Sustainable Development, bringing together experts from the scientific, industrial and policy sectors to discuss a wide range of topics related to energy markets.

The GeoSmart team were represented by Zorlu Enerji’s Ural Halaçoğlu at the conference, where he was able to present during a special panel session dedicated to disseminating the results of projects funded under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

It was a pleasure to be able to participate in one of Europe’s most well-established energy conferences, having begun in Lodz, Poland in 2004 and since also been held in Warsaw, Cracow, Lisbon, Leuven, Madrid, Zagreb, Florence, Stockholm, Porto, Dresden, Ljubljana, and Lappeenranta.

The work of GeoSmart also tied in with a focal point of EEM23 in discussing changes and challenges faced by the energy sector in both the short and the long term, as geothermal continues to position itself as an important part of any future global energy mix.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Grant agreement 818576.
