TWI Expert to Present at MAT 2023

Mon, 11 September, 2023

We are happy to announce that TWI project leader, Dr Alessandro Sergi will be presenting on, ‘Microstructure and Properties Evolution of Additively Manufactured Alloy 718’ at the upcoming MAT23 conference taking place in Valencia from 25-27 September 2023.

The talk relates to the UKRI-funded, 'Scalable AM Rule Creation and Dissemination (SAMRCD)' project and it will be focused on detailed powder characterisation and mechanical properties of laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) Alloy 718 material.

The SAMRCD project has been looking into the L-PBF manufacturing cycle with particular focus on powder production and properties to assess the influence of powder characteristics and storage conditions on the as-built microstructure and mechanical properties for Alloy 718 material. Powder characteristics can greatly be influenced by the surrounding environment, ultimately affecting the material properties, e.g. laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) parts.

About MAT 2023

The 5th Edition of International Conference on Materials Science and Engineering (MAT 2023) is being held as a hybrid event allowing you to participate in-person at the event or virtually from home.

The theme for the event is, Exceeding Vision in Materials Science and Engineering through Novel Innovations,” with the aim of establishing cutting-edge research findings and advanced research methods in material science. The event brings together researchers, scientists, material science experts, practitioners, chemists, engineers, healthcare professionals, clinicians and industry representatives for a multidisciplinary exchange of knowledge, including presentations from internationally recognised speakers.

In addition, MAT 2023 will provide plenty of opportunities for networking, while fostering synergistic collaboration between academics and industry and demonstrating the rapid advancement of cutting-edge technology in the field of material science and engineering.

You can find out more about the event, here.

The SAMRCD Project has received funding by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under No. 10002048
