Research and Product Development Programme Manager of Materials Group, Shiladitya Paul has been awarded the position of Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3).
IoM3 is a UK engineering institution whose focus covers the entire materials cycle, from exploration and extraction, to characterisation, processing, forming, finishing and application, through to product recycling and land reuse.
The IoM3 serves to promote materials science and engineering, geology, mining and associated technologies, mineral and petroleum engineering and extraction metallurgy, and is a leading authority in the global materials and mining community.
Shiladitya is an innovative technology specialist with experience in the industrial development and application of specialised coatings, materials and corrosion mitigation methods. He specialises in coatings and corrosion. His chapters in the Encyclopaedia of Aerospace Engineering (Wiley, 2010) and the ASM Handbook (ASM International, 2013) are widely considered as authoritative reference works providing critical scientific concepts and their application to engineering practice. In addition, Shiladitya has authored over 75 papers/articles on materials, coatings and corrosion and is active in the scientific community as a peer-reviewer and member of the editorial team of several journals. He is also active in several international scientific and industrial committees (vice chair of European Federation of Corrosion WP9, Member of several NACE committees). Shiladitya is also a member (Judge) of the International Thermal Spray Conference (ITSC) and the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology (JTST) best paper award committees.
Being made a Fellow of the IoM3 recognises Shiladitya’s contributions and achievements in materials and, in particular, corrosion mitigation using coatings.
