Representatives from Webber were joined by the ethnographic team of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) on a visit to TWI’s Cambridge laboratories.
The visit was conducted as part of the EU-funded Up-Skill Project, which aims to develop a greater understanding of how business can benefit from improved machine/human integration in the workplace.
The visitors were investigating the effects of vacuum brazing and furnace processing. Following successful brazing experiments at TWI, Webber expressed a desire to go into production using this technology to create a new design of burner to be brazed using methods based on TWI’s findings.
These findings included a manufacturing demonstration at TWI on 9 September, 2024, which tied in with work to develop fixtures to hold components together while in the brazing furnace.
In addition, ethnographic observation and documentation examined the technology development work, which resulted in ARU being able to share information with Webber.
It was a pleasure to invite both Webber and ARU to TWI to continue this work together.
