TWI held a successful event for the 5G-ERA (5G Enhanced Robot Autonomy) innovation project.
The aim of the project is to provide an enhanced 5G experimentation facility and the relevant network applications (NetApps) for third party application developers so they can test and qualify their applications. The project seeks to address new challenges on experimental facilities for the vertical designers and developers engaged in robotic applications.
The ‘5G-Enabled Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) Workshop’, which took place on 11 April, saw speakers from TWI joined by those from HAL-Robotics, the University of Bedfordshire, NEClab of Germany, and Robotnik Automation SLL from Spain.
The attendees were treated to a live demonstration of digitalised braze pasting as well as presentations on emerging MaaS applications and other enabling technologies behind Maas, such as large language models (LLM).
