TWI’s Advanced Composites and Adhesives Consultant, Ewen Kellar is due to present at a Non-Metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) webinar on 30 July, 2024. The webinar, ‘Getting it Right – The Importance of Surface Preparation to Ensure a Good Adhesive Bond,’ is taking place online between 14:00 and 15:00 GMT.
Surface pre-treatment is important to ensure a good adhesive bond, with many different options available for pre-treatment. This event will investigate these pre-treatment options as well as detailing the consequences of not getting it right.
The online event will include information on the outcomes of work undertaken by TWI where the aim was to create a perfect invisible defect. Being able to produce these defects in a stable and controlled manner is an important first step towards developing NDT capabilities to detect them.
Ewen has over 30 years’ experience of adhesive technologies, much of it gained with TWI, where he has worked in almost every industrial sector across countless applications to help clients with their bonding requirements. As a TWI consultant in adhesive technology, Ewen’s active interests include surface preparation, plasma pre-treatments, spectroscopy, mechanical testing, and failure investigation.
