Back to Basics: Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT)
What will you learn?
This webinar will be looking at why we need Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT), concentrating mainly on the heat treatment of carbon manganese and low/medium alloy steels. We will be looking at the benefits of PWHT, how these benefits are achieved, heat treatment methods and control, relevant specifications and recommended PWHT temperatures for a range of alloys.

Welding engineers, welding apprentices, welding trainees and anyone not familiar with the process.

Speakers
Eur Ing Eugene Mathers CEng, MSc, Dip IIM, FWeldI, EWE, IWE
Welding Engineering Consultant
Gene has over 40 years industrial experience working in pipeline, power generation, heavy engineering, nuclear and the pressure vessel fabrication industries.
Gene has worked for Rolls Royce and Associates as senior welding engineer, for British Gas as Regional Welding Engineer and at NEI-International Combustion Ltd. as the company’s Welding and Metallurgy Manager and latterly Quality Manager for some 10 years before joining TWI Ltd in 1991 as Manager, School of Welding Technology, where he controlled and administered courses ranging from hands on skills training to classroom based welding engineering courses for postgraduate engineers.
Gene then moved into the role of Principal Consultant in the Manufacturing Services Group before taking retirement in 2007. Since then he has provided a welding engineering consultancy service as a private consultant.
