The Arc Welding Laboratory offers a variety of manual and automated welding process, including MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA, plasma, and SAW. This laboratory can also support the assessment of welding fumes and EMF (Electromagnetic Field) measurement.
The work of the Arc Welding Laboratory allows TWI to provide on-site consultancy and expert witness services, providing members with guidance on topics relating to arc processes. These include advice on process selection, procedures and development, as well as consumables evaluation, specification and design. The Arc Welding Laboratory also supports the selection and application of codes and standards, troubleshooting weldability, weld repair, cladding and fabrication issues, as well as the manufacture of prototype fabrications. This laboratory also supports quality assurance and auditing services, litigation, expert witness and arbitration and health and safety advice. The Arc Welding Laboratory can also help offer advice on process selection, procedures and development, as well as consumables evaluation, weld repair, cladding and the manufacture of prototype fabrications. Part of our research is focusing on the arc additive manufacturing with arc welding, while also providing repair procedure development, methodology and implementation.
