Meet the GeoSmart Team at IGC 2024

Fri, 17 May, 2024

You will be able to meet representatives from the GeoSmart project at the Iceland Geothermal Congress (IGC) 2024 in Reykjavik from 28-30 May, 2024.

Members of the GeoSmart project team will be manning a booth during the conference, where they will be able to tell attendees more about the innovative work of GeoSmart to deliver increased flexibility and efficiencies in geothermal operations.

The EU-funded project has delivered solutions to two test sites, with the provision of a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tailored to the specific site conditions at Kizildere 2 in Turkey and also at Innsheim in Germany.

In addition, Kizildere 2 has a silica scaling reduction system to increase thermal efficiency from geothermal fluid, and Innsheim has increased power production from Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) based on adiabatic cooling using ultra-fogging technology and a redesign of the secondary cycle for flexible power and district heating supply – maximising energy production.

You can find out about this and more from our team at IGC 2024, where we are also delivering a GeoSmart presentation and holding a free-to-enter, open access workshop.

About the Iceland Geothermal Conference (IGC) 2024

The 5th Iceland Geothermal Conference will address the themes of security and stability, sustainability and innovation, viability and profitability of geothermal with the imperative of addressing climate change and creating a sustainable future society. You can find out more about IGC 2024, here.

The GeoSmart project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 818576.
