TWI had a successful time at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024, meeting individuals and building strong connections with other organisations in attendance. The event, which ran from 22-26 July, 2024, offers the chance for aerospace, aviation and defence industries to come together and innovatively pioneer change, network and enhance connections as well as engage with thought leaders and access unprecedented business development opportunities.
Representatives at the event from TWI included Associate Director for Key Accounts and Sectors, Rory Lipington, Senior Defence Sector Manager, Charlotte Blake, and Smart Transport and Digital Manufacturing Manager, Chris Wiseman, who manned the TWI stand during the event.
They were joined by TWI's Thermal Processing Technologies Team Manager, James Redman, and Section Manager for Friction Welding Processes, Kate Franklin, who offered manufacturing expertise as well as by TWI Consultant Melissa Riley and Expert Professional Business Development Lead, Richard Lewis, who offered information on NDT and coatings including that related to lightning strike protection, electromagnetic shielding, wear and erosion resistance, thermal protection, and more. Other TWI experts at the Airshow included Space Growth Manager, Vito Di Pietro, Principal Project Leader, Dr Abbasi Gandhi, Business Group Manager, Robert Scudamore, and Senior Engineer Dr Jhonattan Gutjahr.
Also in attendance at the Airshow during the week were TWI interim CEO, David Wrathmall, Associate Director of Operations, Warren Bath and TWI’s Director of Research, Paul Woollin.
TWI Interim CEO, David Wrathmall was among those who took time to meet Kelly Maddison and Andrew Kinniburgh of Make UK defence, to enhance our connections. Overall, our team met with representatives from ADS Group, Airbus, CAV Systems, The Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI), and Collins Aerospace, as well as engaging in some 270 other interactions and attending 15 pre-booked meetings.
Speaking on the event, Rory Lipington said, “We had a great 5 days at Farnborough, meeting Members old and new. It was very encouraging to see how busy the airshow was, with a constant footfall. The technologists on our stand received a great deal of interest in TWI’s capabilities in the aerospace and space sectors.”
We would like to thank everyone who attended Farnborough on behalf of TWI as well as all of those who took the time to engage with us, and are very much looking forward to participating in the next Farnborough International Airshow in 2026.
