We took some time to catch up with Martin Boyd BEng EWE IWE CEng MWeldI, who currently works as a welding engineer at Rolls-Royce plc.
Now responsible for procedure and welder qualifications as well as supply chain support and new product introduction across a broad range of welding processes and materials, Martin began his career journey after studying Materials Engineering with a Diploma in Industrial Studies at Loughborough University.
He revealed why he chose a career in engineering and his journey to becoming a Member of The Welding Institute in 2007.
Now an active participant in Institute activities through his volunteering, Martin offered details of his career highlights and growth as well as his journey to attaining his Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
While detailing his own professional development journey, Martin reveals why he feels others should follow in his footsteps and the benefits of being a volunteer for and Member of The Institute.
Concluding with his future career aspirations, Martin also offers some advice for his younger self.
