TWI is working with new Industrial Member company, Pinweld, to develop a new process for joining polyethylene pipes.
Currently, butt welding and electro fusion are the preeminent forms of joining for these pipes, but Pinweld are using their innovative new joining technique to allow for the joining and repair of pipes.
Initial testing has been encouraging and the Pinweld team are excited about the results.
Pinweld’s Stephen Perris spoke on the collaborative work, saying, “Having the opportunity to strength test the weld with TWI is a big step forward for us and we are excited by what might be achieved.”
