We are proud to announce that Dr Shiladitya Paul, Director of the Materials Innovation Centre (MatIC - a partnership between the University of Leicester and TWI), has received a commendation from the ASM Thermal Spray Society for his contribution to their flagship magazine title Journal of Thermal Spray Technology in the role of Reviewer.
Since it was founded in 1994, the ASM Thermal Spray Society (TSS), whose vision statement is ‘To be the leading global source for thermal spray information’ has grown to a membership of circa 1,500 individuals around the world, representing over 500 leading companies, research institutions and universities.
In parallel, its magazine, the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, publishes contributions on both the fundamental and practical aspects of thermal spray science including processes, feedstock manufacture, testing and characterisation. This helps to advance the thermal spray industry, and related sectors, by presenting research and development efforts that can lead to advances in the implementation of engineering applications related to thermal spray technologies.
Much work and preparation goes into the production of each Journal issue, with submitted manuscripts subject to close scrutiny by expert reviewers for provision of technical excellence, quality and relevance. Expert reviewers, referred to as ‘editors’, are selected for this role based on their demonstrable, recognised research expertise, professional experience, critical judgement and foresight, as well as their ability to be a forward thinker in their chosen field.
During the production process, reviewers provide detailed critiques of manuscripts, which usually lead to significant improvements in manuscript quality.
André McDonald, Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, said in his commendation to Dr Paul “Please accept this letter in appreciation for your excellent efforts in 2022 with reviewing assignments for the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology. As editor of this publication, I want you to know that we could not have completed the contents of the 2022 volumes without your assistance in the form of prompt, constructive technical reviews. We are very grateful for your support…”
Congratulations to Shiladitya who told us of his contribution to, and long association with, the Journal “Reviewing for the Journal allows me be informed of the cutting edge research happening in the field of thermal and cold spray, and associated areas, so I am also delighted to receive this letter of thanks for my input to the publication.”
