With almost every fabricated item containing at least one joint made from a variety of joining processes, the Welding and Joining Processes Technical Groups scope has been extended to not only to cover all of the arc, power beam, resistance and solid phase welding processes but, additionally, brazing, soldering and adhesive bonding.

The scope of the Welding and Joining Process Technical Group includes:

  • application and control of the welding and joining processes, welding and joining consumables, welding and joining as practised in the power generation, oil and gas, process plant, structural steel and transport industries; industrial productivity, automation and robotics; health and safety; computer software; welding applications; management and quality assurance systems; national and international standards; quality control and acceptance criteria.

Focusing on current and relevant industry developments, this Technical Group provides a forum for networking and the exchange of ideas and knowledge with industry-leading speaker panels including from BAE Systems, Doosan Babcock, TWI Ltd, Voestalpine Böhler Welding, Lincoln Electric, Electric Power Research Institute, BMW Group, Fronius UK, and more.
