Encompassing many different disciplines through from materials testing to sophisticated analysis, structural integrity assessment (also termed fitness for service (FFS) assessment) deals with many uncertainties, which in turn can lead to discussion and some controversy.

Whilst large strides have been seen in formalising structural integrity assessment procedures, anyone involved will recognise that there remains to be a great deal to still understand in executing assessment methods and these also continue to develop.

The Structural Integrity Technical Group is aimed at those involved within industrial sectors where high integrity is required and structural integrity assessment methods are applied. Topics discussed involve all aspects of structural integrity including:

  • theoretical developments
  • the introduction and interpretation of assessment methodologies and standards
  • practical experience and examples of dealing with their applicability and reliability

Focusing on current and relevant industry developments, this Technical Group provides a forum for networking and the exchange of ideas and knowledge with industry-leading speaker panels including from EDF, Jacobs, Valero, TWI Ltd, DNV, Microalloying International, the National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC), Subsea 7, and more.
