Project Outline

This project aims at developing a more in-depth understanding of the corrosion fatigue crack growth behaviour of the splash zone region in offshore wind turbines. The current knowledge in this field particularly in relation to splash zone behaviour is limited.

Novel testing methods will be developed to test for these unique conditions experienced in the offshore environment.

The outcome of this project will potentially benefit the current standards used to design for fatigue life, prolonging the life of current turbines and those yet to be installed.
