Project Outline

This research project aims to evaluate and characterise the Powder Gas Jet Stream (PGJS) in Laser Directed Energy Deposition (L-DEDp) by systematically investigating the influence of various process parameters.

Utilising a comprehensive Design of Experiments (DoE), the study will analyse how these parameters impact PGJS characteristics across different setups and influence particle behaviour. Additionally, the research will examine various metrics through monitoring systems to explore the data and assess how these metrics affect the reliability of PGJS evaluations.

A robust dataset will be generated to support process optimisation, improve deposition quality, and enhance the understanding of PGJS behaviour in L-DEDp applications, ultimately advancing the field of additive manufacturing.
