TWI has announced that NSIRC PhD student Ahamed Ameen has joined the organisation as a Materials Engineer in the Materials Performance and Characterisation Section.

Ahamed previously served as a PhD student with NSIRC, based at TWI, and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of materials science.

As a PhD student, Ahamed's research focuses on understanding the impact of varying heat input during deposition on the thermal history and microstructure of materials. His work has significant implications for various industries, including aerospace, automotive, and energy.

"I am thrilled to be joining TWI in this new role," said Ahamed Ameen. "I am looking forward to contributing to the innovative work being done in the Materials Performance and Characterisation Section and applying my research findings to practical applications in the industry."

Ahamed's PhD research is made possible through the support of Coventry University, TWI Ltd, and Lloyd's Register Foundation, with supervision provided by Dr. Vit Janik (Cov) and Joanna Nicholas (TWI).

"We are excited to welcome Ahamed to our team," said Joanna Nicholas, Consultant Welding Engineer at TWI Ltd and Ahamed's Industry PhD Supervisor. "His groundbreaking work in measuring the thermal cycles in additively manufactured deposits showcases the innovative research being conducted at TWI and the potential for advancements in materials science."

Ahamed Ameen's expertise and research will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of TWI's Materials Performance and Characterisation Section. We look forward to the impactful developments and applications that will stem from his work in the future.
