Through the MITT scheme, Tees Valley businesses are benefiting from free practical engineering advice to help boost business performance. Companies are signing up for free support to draw on experienced welding engineers to help with issues from troubleshooting production issues to compliance with codes and standards, and from developing and maturing procedures to ensuring quality control, and integrating new technologies, software and processes.
Because the MITT programme provides several days of free support, we have time to create bespoke programmes that are suited to each organisation including, but not limited to, the following…
- Processes and Procedures: Our experts can offer knowledge transfer to help you develop best practice in your welding processes and procedures for a range of materials including plastics and metal fabrication. In addition, we provide a review of welding procedures and welder qualifications, as well as support with writing welding procedure specifications.
- Quality and Certification: MITT expertise also includes supporting progress with quality and certification, such as preliminary assessment/gap analysis for ISO 3834 and ISO 1090 certification, and advice to address non-conformances.
- Troubleshooting: We can also help when there are production problems, by troubleshooting potential causes, conducting failure investigations and exploring solutions.
- Codes and Standards: Compliance with codes and standards is key to any operation. MITT can provide guidance on the application of codes and standards at all stages of an operation, including all relevant welding engineering standards. We can offer support for interpretation as well as compliance.
- Technology Acquisition and Maturity: Our experts can provide knowledge around technology acquisition and maturity to ensure continued or increased competitiveness. It is important to identify, integrate and implement the correct technologies within the correct timescales while meeting quality and budget requirements.
- Software Support: MITT can provide support related to welding software that you can use to help monitor processes, ensure employee certification remains up-to-date and to aid with code and standards compliance.
- Health and Safety: Of course, health and safety is covered by many codes and standards, but it gets a special mention in light of factors such as the changes to how fume is rated by the Health and Safety Executive and the dangers of exposing workers to electromagnetic fields. It is important to ensure the health and safety of your workforce and, with legal obligations to follow such safety guidelines, there could be ramifications for not doing so, including fines and difficulties with insurance. MITT can help through health and safety assessments to ensure best practice to achieve compliance with regulations.
The MITT engineering support is delivered by TWI's welding engineers, whose diverse knowledge and experience is backed up by relevant academic and professional qualifications. Each of our experts has built a reputation for technical excellence and knowledge transfer, using their skills and experience to help others with new techniques and processes.
As mentioned above, we can offer tailored support depending on your needs, so please feel free to contact us (below) and discuss how we might be able to help you overcome technology challenges and other barriers to your growth and success.
The Materials Integrity Technology Transfer (MITT) project is part of the Tees Valley Centre for Materials Integrity Programme, which is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020) and Tees Valley Combined Authority.
