CSWIP Plant Inspector

Who should attend?

If you are an engineer, technical, operations, maintenance or inspection operative this course can be suitable for you, whether you work in the oil and gas production, chemical process, power generation, utilities, commercial works (vendor) inspection organisation, classification society or insurance company.

What will you learn?

The Plant Inspector course encorporates the concepts of the pressure vessel inspection, piping inspection and aboveground tank inspection into its module. The range of topics covered on the course includes but not limited to:

  • Basics of plant Inspection
  • Common damage mechanisms and inspection strategy
  • Material inspection and verification
  • Basics of welding and welding procedures and quality assurance
  • Destructive testing and Non Destructive Examination (NDE)
  • Fundamentals of Risk Based Inspection (RBI)
  • Inspection, examination and pressure testing practices
  • Inspection interval, frequency and extent of inspection
  • Fundamentals of repair, re-rating and alteration
  • Fundamentals of painting and cathodic protection

Candidates in South East Asia can register on Plant Inspector course via the HQ office in Malaysia only.

 

What are the entry requirement? 

Candidates are advised to submit their updated CV for review and upon approval they are eligible to attend the course. 

Having relevant academic qualifications and differing approvals/experience can provide you with some flexibility. However, having background knowledge and qualification in NDE and weld inspection can be beneficial to participants as well.

 

How does it work?

Upon registration, you will receive an email including your username and password through email. The standard duration of access to the course is 60 days and you will be notified about the expiry date approaching. Once you complete the training, you can contact one of our training centres to book your examination slot. By successfully passing the exam, you will be granted the certificate of Plant Inspector.

How does the examination work?

Candidates shall attend the examination within one year from the time of registration on the course. The examination for Plant Inspector comprises open book and close book multiple-choice questions. The time allowed is specified in the examination paper presented to the candidate. All examination components have a pass mark of 70%


  • Closed book 100 multiple choice questions, time allowed 180 minutes
  • Open book 25 multiple choice questions, time allowed 180 minutes

What if you fail in the exam? 

Candidates who fail to obtain a pass on any of the papers may take one retest on those parts of the examination in which success was not achieved. The retest must be completed within one year of the initial test; otherwise candidates will have to repeat the complete examination.

Candidates who are unsuccessful in the retest will be required to re-take the full approved course followed by the full examination.
