TWI Malaysia recently conducted a successful Train-the-Trainer (TTT) session with Thai Nippon Steel (TNS) Engineering at TWI Thailand. This three-day training focused on Augmented Reality (AR) Welding, demonstrating the transformative impact of cutting-edge technology in welding education.
AR Welding Training: A Step Forward for All Levels
Unlike conventional welding training, which relies heavily on hands-on practice with real equipment, AR welding integrates virtual simulation, offering a risk-free, cost-effective, and highly efficient learning environment. This TTT session was attended by senior managers, engineers, and industry professionals, proving that AR welding is beneficial beyond welders—it enhances knowledge across all levels of expertise in the welding industry.
Key Highlights of the Training
The program covered:
- Introduction to AR Welding Technology – Participants explored AR welding machines, their features, and operational functions.
- Hands-on Training with Soldamatic E-Learning – The team learned to set up, customize, and assess training modules using the Soldamatic AR platform.
- Theory & Practical Welding Sessions – Covering techniques like MMA, MIG-MAG, FCAW, and TIG, participants practiced various weld types in a simulated AR environment.
- Assessment & Certification – The training concluded with individual assessments and presentations to evaluate competency.
The Future of Welding Training
This initiative marks a significant advancement in welding education, reinforcing TWI Malaysia’s commitment to innovation and skill development. By integrating AR-based training, industries can reduce material costs, minimize safety risks, and improve learning outcomes, making it an essential tool for modern welding education.
With the success of this program, TWI continues to lead the way in future-proofing welding training—empowering professionals with the latest technological advancements.
