Bermaz Group, a key supplier of automotive parts for Kia and Mazda, is also an authorized dealer for these brands. They are exploring potential collaboration with TWI to enhance skill development within their network.
Strategic Collaboration with TWI
Dato’ Shamsuddin bin Hj. Amran, Group Head Aftersales Bermaz Auto Berhad is particularly interested in the synergy between TWI and Bermaz Auto, focusing on essential skills such as welding, welding inspection, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Bermaz Auto recognizes the potential to elevate the capabilities and competencies of their partners, including suppliers and vendors, by providing them with specialized training.
Training and Development Initiatives
Bermaz Auto is committed to ensuring that all partners involved in engineering work meet high standards of competency. They are keen on having their partners enroll in TWI's courses covering welding, welding inspection, and NDT. Additionally, Bermaz Auto is actively engaged with TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Malaysia, and they see a significant opportunity to offer these courses to youth interested in the automotive industry.
Empowering the Workforce
Bermaz Auto envisions training youths in these specialized disciplines, thus fostering a skilled workforce for the future. They also aim to train their own staff through Train-the-Trainer (TOT/TTT) programs. By equipping their personnel to become certified trainers and supervisors, Bermaz Auto can conduct in-house training tailored to automotive welding.
Goals
- Vendor and Supplier Competency: Ensure all vendors and suppliers undergo TWI training to achieve the required competencies.
- Staff Development: Train their own staff to become competent trainers, capable of delivering high-quality training.
Initial Impressions and Future Aspirations
During their initial visit to TWI, the Bermaz Group’s operations team was highly impressed by the facilities and offerings. They expressed a strong interest in becoming trainers and establishing a training center. One of the key investments they are considering is in augmented reality technology to enhance their training programs.
