The specialists of TWI Azerbaijan branch checked the current condition of the Javanshir Bridge located in Baku city for 3 days. Due to technical inspections, traffic on the Javanshir Bridge is restricted during the specified time intervals. Heavy tonnage trucks passed over the bridge and the weight resistance of the bridge was checked. Also, the strength of the bridge was checked by means of various devices.
The scope of this project is providing technical third-party inspections, condition monitoring and remaining life calculation for the Javanshir Bridge; the destructive and non-destructive have been carried out during inspection, using special software to model and calculate stress and finally the final Assessment Report and consulting for repairing has been submitted. In during inspection, all tests such as; Visual inspections and testing, destructive test, Inspection concrete with NDT methods, Reinforcement bars potential survey locations identification, 3D laser scanning and 3D modelling, testing bridge under heavy weight by emission acoustic testing and modelling and calculation, drilling for geology test samples in 20 meters deep, preparing the sample to send for geology test are successfully implemented which were helped to have an accurate date and calculation about existing condition of bridge.
"Javanshir Bridge" connecting Afiyaddin Jalilov Street and Uzeyir Hajibayov Street was built in 1962. The total length of this bridge with 12 spans is 203 meters, and its width is 17 meters. Until recently, trains moved under the bridge, and cars moved over it. Currently, the railway lines passing through the area have been dismantled. TWI (Azerbaijan Branch) team is assigned to provide condition monitoring of the bridge and remind life calculation for future action.
